This list of local Atlanta products is by no means complete—just a collection of my tried-and-true favorites that I reach for often. I’ll be updating it regularly as I discover new gems or remember the ones I’ve forgotten.
Local Atlanta Meats:
Beef– White Oak Pastures– A one-stop online shop for sustainably raised meats and local sundries. I’ve visited their Bluffton, Georgia ranch several times, and it’s one of the most impressive agricultural operations I’ve ever seen. Their regenerative practices and commitment to animal welfare set the gold standard.
Their ground beef is available at Publix.
Pork– Riverview Farms– Great for pork, eggs and corn. I love their pork tenderloin, spareribs, spicy pork breakfast sausage, eggs, cornmeal and popcorn. The popcorn is seasonal and sells fast, so stock up while you can! They also offer a CSA that is very enticing.
Available at Freedom Park Farmers Market, Morningside Market
Local Atlanta Cheeses:
Goat– Decimal Place Farms– Wonderful goat cheese without any of the barnyard funk. I suspect this is because she only milks about 40 goats and she keeps the barn super clean. These goats are happy, healthy and very well cared for— and it shows in the quality of the cheese. The chevre is great for snacking, and the feta is amazing for cooking. It’s super mild because she doesn’t put it in a salt brine, so I use it on everything from pizza to enchiladas. It reminds me more of a queso fresco.
Available at Freedom Park Farmers Market, Morningside Market (look for it at Rowe by Row’s stand)
Cow– Sweetgrass Dairy– I love their camembert. Great for a cheese and charcuterie board, or just for snacking. They’ve been making cheese since 2010.
Available at Whole Foods
Local Atlanta Fruits & Veggies:
Some of my favorite Freedom Farmers Market farms for seasonal produce include:
Hickory Hill Farms– great variety, lots of staples like carrots, potatoes, and onions.
Little Fox Farm– great berries, beautiful lettuces, greens, tomatoes, and flowers
Rowe by Row– high quality microgreens and cruciferous veggies
Georgia Peach Truck– perfect peaches
Freedom Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 8:30-12:30 at the Carter Center.
Local Atlanta Pantry Staples:
Grits, Cornmeal, Popcorn– RIverview Farms (I recommend keeping these products in the freezer)
Available at Freedom Farmers Market and Morningside Farmers Market.
Rice– I use Carolina Gold Rice like a weekday staple. Its starchiness reminds me of arborio, but I rinse it before cooking to keep it fluffy.
Available online at Marsh Hen Mill.
Olive Oil– This award winning Woodpecker Trail Farms is my go-to for a good drizzling or finishing evo. I use it in this Moroccan Celery Salad with Dates, Almonds & Pecorino
Available on their website.
Honey– Bee Wild: I love their lavender infused honey for my cups of chamomile tea.
Available at Freedom Farmers Market
Chocolate– My favorite right now is this bar from Condor Chocolates out of Athens, Georgia. I think it tastes like s’mores. Also a big fan of Xocolatl.
Condor Chocolates is available at Floral Park Market, and Xocolatl has a retail shop in Krog Street Market
Bath & Body– Turnrow Bath, Body & Home is thoughtfully made and beautifully packaged. I love gifting their products as much as I love using them. I’ve got their insect repellent in my bag all summer long.
Available at Grant Park Farmers Market, Piedmont Farmers Market, Freedom Farmers Market, Garnish & Gather
